BOGART, GEORGIA- During QDMA's National Convention held in Louisville, Kentucky last week, the Georgia Forestry Commission was named the Agency of the Year.
"The Georgia Forestry Commission partnership with QDMA and strategic alliance that we have serves as an extension of our mission to educate the publics on the many issues that both impact and enhance their habitats, said Randy Bowden, QDMA's Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations. "The GFC management of the state lands and initiatives of education and promotion of healthy forest landscapes are at the top of the game. We are proud of the partnership and very proud to recognize them as this years Agency of the Year."
Each year, QDMA works closely with numerous state and federal agencies on initiatives that further QDMA's mission of ensuring the future of white-tailed deer, wildlife habitat and our hunting heritage. The Georgia Forestry Commission has a long history of working with QDMA on efforts to manage, enhance and conserve wildlife habitat and our precious forest.
Within the state of Georgia, the Georgia Forestry Commission takes a very proactive approach by establishing partnerships with natural resource organizations to provide conservation, cost-share, educational, and technical forestry services to landowners. Examples of programs they offer include: Forest Legacy, Forest Stewardship Program, and "Grows" or Georgia Recognizes Our Woodland Stewards. QDMA has been an ongoing supporter of GFC programs for many years. Currently, QDMA is partnered with GFC on their innovative Central Georgia Strategic Outreach Co-op Initiative that impacts four counties, with expansion to 11 counties possible in the near future.
"The mission of the Georgia Forestry Commission is to provide leadership, service and education in the protection and conservation of Georgia's forest resources," explains GFC Director Robert Farris. "The QDMA has similar conservation and education goals, and together we're working with private landowners to ensure that Georgia maintains healthy, sustainable forests that not only provide quality deer habitat, but also many benefits for society including clean air, clean water and abundant forest products for generations to come. I encourage all QDMA branches to reach out to your respective state forester to find how you can best work together to conserve and enhance your forestlands. We are honored to be named QDMA's of Agency of the Year, and we thank QDMA for their outstanding partnership!"
The efforts of the Georgia Forestry Commission have seen tremendous results across the board. Their impact is far-reaching and is one to be applauded.
