SHOT Show Auctions Yields Over $15,000
Las Vegas, NV--When the GunBroker.com gavel signaled the end of the 2010 SHOT Show auction, on-line bidding on two milestone American firearms had yielded more than $15,100 in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.
Coordinated by the Hunting Heritage Trust in conjunction with the NSSF, the 2010 SHOT Show auction featured the 4 Millionth Savage Model 110 and the 10,000,001st Remington Model 870.
When the bidding was ended at 1:00 pm on the final day of the SHOT Show, GunBroker.com officials announced that bidding on the Savage topped out at $5,691.00 and the Remington bidding reached an even $9,500.00. One bidder, who asked that his name be withheld, was high bidder on both guns.
The Savage Model 110 has been called one of "The 50 Best Guns Ever Made" by Field & Stream magazine and one of "The World's Greatest Deer Rifles" by Outdoor Life. In its 50 years of production, the Savage Model 110 has received countless accolades and developed an army of loyal owners.
Four million of the iconic Savage Model 110 bolt action rifles have been produced and the SHOT Show auction provided Savage aficionados across the nation with an opportunity to vie for the prized rifle on GunBroker.com. "Typically, a milestone firearm such as this would be locked away in a company vault or presented to a museum or a VIP," commented Savage CEO Ron Coburn. "The Savage Model 110 has achieved its popularity thanks to the support of millions of hunters and shooters and we wanted to provide one of our loyal Model 110 fans with an opportunity to own this historic rifle. The SHOT Show auction accomplished that."
The Remington Model 870 has won thousands of clay target competitions, accompanied millions of hunters into the field and captured the respect and trust of countless sportsmen and sportswomen. Reaching the 10,000,000 production mark in April 2009, the Remington Model 870 pump action shotgun is the most popular shotgun ever made. And the 10,000,001st Model 870 was featured as the 2010 SHOT Show shotgun and the first of the next 10,000,000.
Both the Savage and Remington were hand engraved by the artisans at Baron Engraving in Trumbull, CT. Baron has engraved many of the featured SHOT SHOW guns and knives over the past several years.
The 2010 auction was featured exclusively on GunBroker.com. Proceeds will benefit the efforts of the Hunting Heritage Trust in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.
