High Water Cuts Available Area for Hunting
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is alerting hunters that flooding conditions along the Ouachita and Boeuf Rivers will reduce the available hunting area within Boeuf Wildlife Management Area (WMA) located in Caldwell Parish.
LDWF staff have been monitoring floodwaters impacting the WMA and, after reviewing river forecasts and topographical data for the area, estimate that approximately half of the WMA will be flooded during the either sex deer hunt scheduled on Nov. 27 and 28.
Hunters looking for opportunities to take part in either sex deer hunting on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving are encouraged to visit other WMAs in northeast Louisiana, including nearby Big Lake, Buckhorn, Ouachita, Russell Sage and Sicily Island Hills WMAs.
Please consult the 2009-10 La. Hunting Regulations pamphlet or the on-line version available via LDWF's Web site (
