Taurus Helps Raise $255,000 for Boy Scouts of America

MIAMI - South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, held its Second Annual Sporting Clays Invitational, presented by Taurus International Manufacturing, on October 21 and 22 at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, FL. The event raised more than $255,000 to benefit outreach programs for underprivileged youth in South Florida and the Boy Scouts' Camp Seminole in Davie, Florida.

More than 200 guests and 44 teams participated in the event's sporting clays tournament at Florida's premiere Sporting Clays facility, Quail Creek Plantation. Event sponsors and guests, such as Taurus International Manufacturing, the National Rifle Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, enjoyed a special barbecue and reception on the first evening, followed by a competition the next day. The event concluded with a silent and live auction.

"The programs of the Boy Scouts of America are essential to shaping the lives of young people in a positive way, something that is very important to the future of this great nation," said Bob Morrison, President and CEO of Taurus International Manufacturing and the Sporting Clays Invitational Chairman. "It has been an honor to help get this event started and use our contacts and resources to raise the needed dollars to keep Scouting strong and growing for the South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America."

The Sporting Clays Invitational proceeds will benefit more than 3,000 youth in rural and inner-city areas who would otherwise not have access to Scouting programs. The outreach programs will contribute to the healthy development of these young people by providing them the environment they need to grow and learn, as well as teaching them essential life skills, leadership skills, values and character education. In addition, it will provide them more opportunities to participate in outdoor experiences, such as camping, survival courses and shooting sports.
