Ducks Unlimited TV Features Kentucky Youth
DU has long considered the next generation of waterfowlers to be as important as the current one and weekend camps like this one in Ballard County, Ky., give kids the chance to learn about wetlands conservation and experience the joys of duck hunting. Join Wade Bourne and the future of duck hunting. As ducks and geese cover the sky above, our crew is creating fabulous memories of the final hunts of their season.
Special youth waterfowl hunting days allow young hunters special opportunities when adults must leave their guns at home. On this week's show, Wade joins Kentucky DU State Chair-Elect David Holmes with two DU Greenwings - Burns Romines and Jordan Hinton at Dr. Charles Shields Bandana Hunt Club just outside of Paducah, Ky. After an amazing morning with Jordan bagging his first reward banded mallard drake, Wade heads to Waldon's Lodge. There he meets up with Ricky Waldon and scores of youth who have gathered despite recent ice storms that have crippled this area. Excitement is in the air as the next generation of hunters set out for their exclusive last hunts of the season.
Ducks Unlimited is committed to passing that waterfowling heritage on to the next generation. Today's youth are tomorrow's conservation leaders and it's up to us to instill an appreciation of wetlands, waterfowl and hunting in our children and grandchildren, so they will grow up to share our conservation ethics and continue our waterfowl heritage. DU has more than 75,000 "Greenwings" youth members under the age of 17 and each year DU volunteers hold events that allow kids the chance to learn about wetlands conservation and experience the joys of duck hunting.
DU-TV is presented by Midway USA and appears each week on the Outdoor Channel. Watch the finest wingshooting action on television. Travel along each week with hosts Wade Bourne, Jared Brown and Mike Checkett as they hunt DU priority areas and freelance opportunities across Canada and America. Make your next trip to the field more successful by picking up useful tips on calling, hunting, and dog training while celebrating and supporting our rich waterfowling tradition.
