Ol'Man Treestands Has New Home, Owners
TALLAHASSEE-As the state looks for leadership to pull out of its economic slump, it's local companies and investors that are making a difference in Tallahassee.

The latest venture taken on by local entrepreneurs J.T. Burnette, Chad Kittrell, Chase McNeill and Chris Cain, Ol' Man Treestands, will bring jobs to Tallahassee and boost the city's economic development. To maintain a local perspective on the company, Tallahassee native John McNeill has been appointed as president.

"We are a group that lives and breathes a philosophy centered on making sound business decisions, as well as personally and professionally finding ways to contribute to the well-being of our community," said Chad Kittrell, partner at Hunter & Harp Holdings. "We will continue to reinvest profits into the local community to bring about Tallahassee's quick recovery by creating new jobs and business."

The newest owners purchased the 19-year-old Mississippi-based company in November 2008 with the intention of reviving it to its old glory, which at its peak employed as many as 150 people.

"We felt that the tradition and promise of this company and its products could not be passed up," said J.T. Burnette, partner at Hunter & Harp Holdings. "Appointing John as president was the next step in moving the company forward and committing ourselves to a higher level of achievement within our company."

McNeill's long-standing retail experience in the Tallahassee market as General Manager of Operations of once family-owned Bill's Bookstore provides the much-needed experience for the new headquarters and revamped operations of Ol' Man Treestands.

"We, as a company, are excited that we have succeeded in bringing a national company into our local market. We understand the challenges associated with this venture, but feel prepared and ready to answer the call," said McNeill. "This company will give to the community for years to come."

The Ol' Man Treestands brand has been nationally acclaimed since its inception. Although the company only sold tree stands when it first opened in 1990, its success allowed it to quickly expand and develop a variety of high-quality, trusted outdoor products.

"We plan on starting on a small scale and growing the company's potential to eventually bring more jobs and opportunities to Tallahassee," said Cain. "Ol' Man Treestands has a valuable history, and we plan on following in that tradition."
