Shimano Suspends South Carolina Operations as Hurricane Dorian Nears

LADSON, S.C. – Upon the National Weather Service hurricane and storm surge warning announcements for the greater Charleston, S.C. area, along with mandatory evacuations ordered by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Shimano has suspended operations of its North Charleston distribution center and fishing division office.

“Safety is always the number one concern for all our Team Shimano members, and many have already left the area to get further inland and away from Hurricane Dorian,” said Penina Joseph, Shimano’s vice president of corporate communications. “We are closed definitely through Thursday and will review our Friday plans tomorrow afternoon.”

Shimano’s Irvine, Calif. distribution center is prepared to take on the extra capacity for orders that can be diverted and fulfilled. Both the North Charleston and Irvine facilities stock all Shimano fishing brands, including G. Loomis rods, PowerPro braid, and Jackall lures.

Joseph said Shimano will keep all its customers as informed as possible to when its South Carolina operations resume normal functions.
