American Outdoor Brands; Director, Quality Assurance (Columbia, MO)

American Outdoor Brands is looking for a Director of Global Quality Assurance to build and lead a team of quality professionals in support of Customer Satisfaction and Product Development. The ideal candidate will drive global quality strategy, execution, and harmonization of best practices while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of global quality assurance best practices to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·Build and lead a team of quality professionals both in the US and overseas.

·Create a strategic global vision for the Quality team.

·Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.

·Work collaboratively with key business partners to establish methodologies to resolve Quality process issues.

·Cross-functionally support the Supply Chain teams by reviewing quality standards, and managing program execution.

·Overseeing overall product quality and testing for the Accessories division and support for all products distributed through the AOBSC.

·Establishes raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements; conferring and negotiating with suppliers; devising testing methods and procedures.

·Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedures.

·Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.

·Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.

·Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

·Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.

·Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

·Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

·Maintains quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

·Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

·Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

·Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

·Work safely and report work related injuries immediately.

·Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

·Bachelor's degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain, or related field

·Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 in a leadership/managerial capacity

·Competencies and Skills:

·Thorough understanding of Quality Assurance and governing bodies that set requirements.

·Ability to manage and develop cross-functional teams

·Experience managing work effectively through both direct and indirect reports

·Understanding of hard lines and soft line sourcing and quality

·Able to create strategic plans and execute them

·Proficiency in the written and spoken use if the English language

·Flexibility to travel is a must, including abroad

Physical Demands:

·Regular and predictable attendance is required.

·Some work is required in "off-hours" for business meetings/company events.

·Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.

·Ability to move about facility on regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 20 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

·Visual and hearing acuity.

·Travel approximately 30% including international and US
