Rock River Arms Seeking Mechanical Engineer

Colona, IL – Rock River Arms, the industry's most respected name in Modern Sporting Rifles and pistols, currently has an open employment opportunity for the position of Mechanical Engineer at the company's headquarters in Colona, Illinois.

Following is an overview of the position's responsibilities, terms, and candidate qualifications.

Title of position: Mechanical Engineer

Term of employment: Full-time employment at-will with benefits

Overall responsibility: To develop and design new products, components, and/or systems. The Engineer will also adapt existing designs for new models and redesign of current products to maintain and enhance the competitive status of our products in the market.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Manage new product development from R&D through to manufacturing
  • Concept, design and manage new products relevant to the Company’s vision
  • Establish and standardize design, documentation, and implementation of documents, quality control, and print revision procedures
  • Manage and organize print database and ensure all prints are accurate and current
  • Meet with manufacturing team to determine and investigate any concerns
  • Work with suppliers on new product and/or changes to existing product
  • Determine ways to reduce costs by improving the quality and design of existing products
  • Manage part and print changes to all departments within the company
  • Communicate with vendors on projects
  • Oversee quality control and inspection upon parts receipt
  • Perform product testing, failure and root cause analyses
  • Provide technical support to achieve problem resolution
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct report

Position consults with: President, Vice President, General Manager, Shop Manager(s), Receiving

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in SolidWorks design software
  • Experience working with rapid prototyping and 3D printing
  • Firearms industry experience preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
