TrueTimber Partner Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2018 National Hunting and Fishing Day Honorary Chair

INMAN, SC– Earlier this year, it was announced that TrueTimber brand ambassador Dale Earnhardt Jr. would serve as the 2018 honorary chair for National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHF Day). NHF Day brings together sportsmen and women to celebrate the rich tradition of fishing and hunting with national, state, regional and local organizations hosting fishing and hunting events. The annual celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.

“The Earnhardt and TrueTimber families share a strong connection to the outdoors and a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing and preserving these great traditions,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “In 2015, we welcomed Dale Jr. to the TrueTimber family, and today, we look forward to celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day as he serves as honorary chair. On Sept. 22nd and beyond, we invite all our customers to join us in celebrating our outdoor heritage by getting outside, hunting, fishing and introducing friends and family to the sports.”

NHF Day History

Congress established NHF Day to recognize hunters and anglers for their leadership in fish and wildlife conservation. Since launching in 1971, the day has been formally proclaimed by every U.S. President and countless governors and mayors. Led by sportsman President Theodore Roosevelt, early conservationists urged sustainable use of fish and game, created hunting and fishing licenses, and lobbied for taxes on sporting equipment to provide funds for state conservation agencies. These actions were the foundation of the North American wildlife conservation model, a science-based, user-pay system that would foster the most dramatic conservation successes of all time.

Each year sportsmen and women are funding more projects that enable more public access areas to be open. Through license sales and excise taxes on equipment, hunters and anglers pay for most fish and wildlife conservation programs. On average, each hunter spends $1,638 every year on the sport. Portions of these funds are allocated to support conservation. NHF Day is dedicated to celebrating those efforts.

About NHF Day

Over the years, NHF Day boasted many more public relations successes, assisted by celebrities who volunteered to help spotlight the conservation accomplishments of sportsmen and women. Honorary chairs have included George Bush, Tom Seaver, Hank Williams Jr., Arnold Palmer, Terry Bradshaw, George Brett, Robert Urich, Ward Burton, Louise Mandrell, Travis Tritt, Tracy Byrd, Jeff Foxworthy and many other sports and entertainment figures. NHF Day, celebrated the fourth Saturdayof every September, remains the most effective grassroots efforts ever undertaken to promote the outdoor sports and conservation.
