MARINEMAX SUPPORT NATIONAL SAFE BOATING WEEK

CLEARWATER, FL (May 17, 2019) – The annual National Safe Boating Week campaign runs May 18-24, 2019 with important safety reminders for boaters, in anticipation of the busy boating season ahead. MarineMax supports National Safe Boating Week by encouraging boating enthusiasts to get involved and spread the word on social media. Visit www.facebook.com/MarinemaxLeisure or www.facebook.com/MarineMaxVacations and join in the trivia contests to win a prize!

National Safe Boating Week kicks off with Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day on Friday, May 17 to demonstrate the variety of styles available. New life jackets are much more comfortable, lightweight and stylish than the bulky orange style most boaters know. There are innovative options, such as inflatable life jackets, allowing mobility and flexibility for activities like boating, fishing, paddling or hunting, and are much cooler in the warmer weather. The annual Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day is hosted by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) and serves as a fun and educational element to promote the value of consistent life jacket wear by recreational boaters. The NSBC is asking all participants to take a picture of themselves in their life jacket while at work and share their photo on social media using the hashtag #lifejacket2work and #safeboating.

In addition to the one-day event, MarineMax plans to give out prizes all month long. Keep an eye out for trivia questions posted on the MarineMax Leisure Boating and MarineMax Vacations Facebook pages. Leave an answer in the comment section to enter to win various prizes. There will be one winner daily, and a grand prize winner at the end of the month, for official rules, see the MarineMax or MarineMax Vacations websites.

U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in four out of every five recreational boating fatalities and that 84.5 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets. MarineMax knows about the importance of boating safety. All year long, they host a variety of safe boating classes, most of which are free to the public. Check out the website to read more about courses such as Women on Water, Intro to Boating, Watersports Safety, Navigation, and various Fishing Seminars, etc. For more information, please visit www.marinemax.com/events/classes.
