Brandon Showen Named as Whitetails Unlimited’s Field Director of the Year

Whitetails Unlimited has named Brandon Showen of Wilmington, Ohio as Field Director of the Year for fiscal year 2018-19. Showen, who conducts events for WTU in western Ohio, was honored based on chapter performance, service to local chapters, and internal performance benchmarks.

“Brandon does an outstanding job representing Whitetails Unlimited, always exceeds expectations, and really cares about the WTU members and chapters in his territory,” said David Hawkey, vice president of field operations. “Brandon constantly looks for new ways to help his local chapters coordinate their conservation efforts, and we’re always amazed at how much he gets done.”

Showen is an avid deer and turkey hunter, and enjoys spending time outdoors in many activities with his wife and two children. “While I’m happy about winning this award, this is truly a team effort to make it all work, and the chapter volunteers are really the key to success – I couldn’t do it without all of them,” said Showen.

Hawkey said that Showen nudged out Wisconsin’s Jim Wiltinger, and Jamie Merckx who was last year’s winner. Field directors are scored in a matrix that takes into account a number of performance standards that encompass all parts of their complex job.

Whitetails Unlimited raises funds at banquets and events to be used for education, habitat conservation, and programs to preserve the hunting tradition. Local chapter involvement is essential for Whitetails Unlimited. Anyone interested in starting a local chapter or participating in an event can call WTU national headquarters at 800-274-5471.
