Stuart, Florida Fishing Groups Collect Relief Items for Bahamas

The organizations are working closely with the US and Bahamian Governments

STUART, FLORIDA The Stuart Sailfish Club Foundation has once again partnered with US and Bahamian Customs, Blue Marlin Cove, West End Bahama Island, Day Maker Charters and The Stuart Jet Center to collect relief items for those on the Island devastated by Hurricane Dorian. Residents are being asked to drop items off beginning today at the Stuart Jet Center, located at 2501 SE Aviation Way A, Stuart, FL 34996, at The Stuart Sailfish Club Tiki Hut Pavilion, located at 3867 SE Evan's Terrace Stuart Fl 34997 and at River Palm Cottages & Fish Camp, 2325 NE Indian River Dr, Jensen Beach FL. For those residents of Port St. Lucie, items can be dropped off at the Hilton Garden Inn PGA Village, 8540 Commerce Centre Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986. The items will then be transported to Stuart.

“Our hearts are broken seeing the devastation in the Bahamas after being hit by this catastrophic Category 5 hurricane,” said Stuart Sailfish Club President Charlie Conigliaro. “We did this same type of relief in 2016 after Hurricane Matthew and the donations we received then were amazing. I’m sure our community will put forth the same type of effort this time. We are grateful to Jeff Capen of the Stuart Jet Center, Joe Reiger, owner of Blue Marlin Cove, and Patrick Price of Day Maker Charters for once again being a part of this relief effort. We were fortunate this time to be spared here on the Treasure Coast; now it’s time for us all to pull together to help the poorest of those and the hardest hit living in the Bahamas.”

Currently the Bahamian Government is asking that no private boats attempt to make the cross. The debris field is too large and it is not safe. You WILL be turned away by Bahamian Customs. Working with large organizations is the only way to get your donations through to the people who need them.

If you wish to make a cash donation, the Stuart Sailfish Club has set up a Go Fund Me account. Visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/StuartSailfishClub/. If you wish to write a check, please make checks payable to Stuart Sailfish Club Foundation and mail to the Stuart Sailfish Club Foundation, 3867 SE Evan's Terrace Stuart Fl 34997. Please write in C/O Bahamas Relief Fund. As a 501c3 your donations are tax deductible. Please do not bring cash to Stuart Jet Center.

Items brought to the Stuart Jet Center starting today will be loaded onto helicopters and taken to the Bahamas. Following is the list of items requested by the Bahamian Government:
