Arizona Posts Family Fishing Day Dates

What: Just for Kids Fishing Festival

When: Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, 8 a.m.-noon

Where: Kiwanis Park, 5500 S. Mill Ave. Tempe, AZ 85283

Comments: This is the 28th Annual Just for Kids Fishing Festival celebration and is a community partnership event between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Anglers United, and the City of Tempe. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. The AZGFD Sport Fishing Education program staff and volunteer instructors will be providing free fishing for everyone who signs in at the Game and Fish booth during event hours. Bait and loaner equipment will be available or you may bring your own. The cost of the event is free. Bring your family out and join the fun!

What: Family and Community Fishing Event

When: Saturday, March 9, 2019, 7-11 a.m.

Where: Roper Lake State Park 101 E. Roper Lake Rd. Safford, AZ 85546

Comments: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with Roper Lake State Park to provide a day of
free, family fishing and fun. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. Loaner rods are available for use, or feel free to bring your own. Bait will be provided and during the hours of the event, you do not need to possess a fishing license to participate. The cost of the event is free for those who sign in at the Game and Fish booth. Standard vehicle entrance fees into the park will apply. Bring your family out and join the fun.

What: Youth and Community Fishing Day

When: Saturday, April 6, 2019, 8 a.m-noon

Where: Cortez Park, 3434 W. Dunlap Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85051

Comments: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with Phoenix Mayor, Thelda Williams, along with
partners City of Phoenix, Phoenix Police Department to provide a morning of free, family and community fishing and fun. Game and Fish staff from the Sport Fishing Education Program and volunteer instructors will be on hand to provide tips on fishing and answer your angling questions. Bring your own equipment or there will be loaner rods available. Participants, who register at the Game and Fish booth, will be provided bait and will not need a fishing license during the hours of the event.

What: Youth Fishing Day

When: Saturday, April 27, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Where: Bonsall Pond, 5840 W. Bethany Home Rd., Glendale

Comments: The Arizona Game and Fish will be working with the Councilman Jamie Aldama and the City of Glendale to provide a day of free, family fishing and fun. Game and Fish staff from the
Sport Fishing Education Program and Certified Angler volunteer instructors will be on hand to provide tips on fishing and answer your angling questions. Bring your own equipment or
there will be loaner rods available on a first-come, first serve basis. Participants who register at the Game and Fish booth will be provided bait and will not need a fishing license during the hours of the event.


What: Cops and Bobbers Family Fishing Day

When: Saturday, May 4, 2019
7:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Where: Red Mountain Lake
7745 E. Brown Rd. Mesa, AZ 85207

Comments: Join the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Mesa Police Department for a day of free, family fishing and fun. This event is for beginning and experienced anglers. Loaner rods are available for use, or feel free to bring your own. Bait will be provided and during the hours of the event, you do not need to possess a fishing license to participate. The cost of the event is free for those who sign in at the Game and Fish booth. Bring your family out and join the fun.

What: Free Fishing Day!

When: Saturday, June 1, 2019, 8 a.m.-noon

Where: Goldwater Lake, 2900 S. Goldwater Lake Rd. Prescott, AZ 86303

Comments: As part of the National Free Fishing Day, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is planning a day of free fishing for the whole family. The Arizona Game & Fish Department Sport Fishing Education Program staff and volunteer instructors will be on hand to assist anglers. Bait will be provided and loaner rods will be available for those participants who sign in at the Game and Fish booth. This is a great time to bring the kids out for a nice day of fishing.
