Whitetails Unlimited Grants $12,000 To Mabel-Canton Clay Target Team

The Fillmore County Minnesota Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited was able raise more than $12,000 in support of the Mabel-Canton Clay Target team located in Mabel, Minnesota. Their primary discipline is 5-stand trap where they have qualified for state competition multiple times since the team’s inception in 2016. The trap team consists of approximately 30 young men and women from 8th grade to seniors in high school.

The Staying on Target Program is the largest of Whitetails Unlimited’s four pillar programs, in terms of dollars spent. Target shooting initiatives provide an introduction to youth archery and firearm fundamentals to help nurture a lifelong interest in the shooting sports, and ultimately expose the next generation to the sport of regulated hunting. WTU is also a strong supporter of other shooting sports organizations such as National Archery in the Schools Program including the IBO 3-D Challenge, 4-H Shooting Sports, Scholastic 3-D Archery, and the Scholastic Clay Target Program. Local sportsman’s clubs that host youth shooting sports leagues such as archery or clay targets have also been large recipients of WTU contributions.
