CLACKAMAS, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a free fishing event for kids and adult anglers with disabilities on Saturday, May 25 at Mt. Hood Pond in Gresham.

This event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pond located on the Mt. Hood Community College Campus, 2600 SE Stark St. Pre-registration is not required.

Fishing at Mt. Hood Pond is restricted to youth anglers (age 17 and under) or adult anglers with an Oregon Disabilities Hunting and Fishing Permit from April 1 through Aug. 31 annually, including during Saturday’s event.

ODFW will stock the pond with rainbow trout just prior to the event, and will hand out rods, reels, tackle and bait to those who are learning to fish or do not have their own gear. Rods are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer. ODFW staff and volunteer angling instructors will be available to provide assistance to those new to the sport.

A fishing license is required for all anglers age 12 and older. Purchase online via the MyODFW.com website or at a license sales agent.
