Shine A Light Friday with The Outdoor Wire

Aug 26, 2016
Every so often on a Friday, we will share folks in our industry we think you should know, or folks YOU have recommended we get to know better. There are so many positive stories – and people – we don't get to share in our pages of the Wires that we thought it is high time to shine a light on them. With that said, if you want to recommend someone (not yourself!), please email us at shineALight@theoutdoorwire.com

Let's begin shining a light on one another.

  • The Industrialist Podcast – Nate is one of many podcasters who have taken on the difficult task to create an entertaining – yet educational – show related to our industry. What we like is his take on entrepreneurship in the outdoors. Isn't our industry chock full of entrepreneurs? He should be busy for some time. Every podcast is a little gem of quotes that Nate pulls out for his followers to study and apply. Learn more athttp://www.theindustrialistusa.com/podcast/
  • Are you concerned about the state of public lands and who's hand(s) they might fall into? If are you completely unaware of what's happening, check out Randy Newberg's YouTube series "Public Lands Transfer" where he goes over everything you need to know to be an educated citizen – even breaking it down by state! • A wonderful recommendation came into our mailbox for Lt. Col. Lew Deal, USMC (ret.) and we wholeheartedly agree. We wonder how many OW readers have interacted with Deal over the years? After a 24-year career as a Marine Corps Cobra helicopter pilot, Deal now focuses on helping to improve the lives of military veterans, especially those injured and wounded heroes that have given so much to the nation. To that end, he was the principal force behind passage of the National "Disabled Sportsman's Access Act" that established access to hunting and fishing opportunities on military bases for all military personnel. He has helped build awareness of the need for and expanded opportunities and accessibility for challenged veterans and others as he worked for/with Wheelin' Sportsmen, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Hope for the Warriors and Team Red, White and Blue, among others. During this time he initiated a nationwide adaptive outdoor equipment program that expanded hunting and other outdoor activities for mobility impaired Americans, working to bridge the gap between access and accessibility. He is a member of the Mossy Oak National Pro Staff and is an active advisor/consultant with the Outdoor Adventure Conservation Fund. While he enjoys fishing, he hunts "…just as much as I can." Thanks to Chris Chaffin for this highly deserved spotlight recommend.
